DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre volleyball team fell to 4-6 on the year and 0-4 in conference play as their comeback attempt fell short against Rhodes on Family Weekend in Alumni Gym. The Colonels lost to the Lynx in five sets.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Despite holding leads in each of the opening two sets, the Colonels couldn't put the Lynx away as Rhodes picked up wins of 26-24 and 25-22 to take an early 2-0 lead.
- Centre played much better in the third set, gradually pulling away before holding off a late Rhodes charge, eventually winning by a score of 25-22 as
Kylie Cochran put home the final kill on a surprise attack from her setter position.
- In the fourth set, Centre used an early 7-0 run to create distance and never looked back, winning 25-13 after
Peyton Vacala connected with the last kill.
- Rhodes used a 6-0 run early in the fifth set to take the lead for good, eventually winning the set and the match, 15-11.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Vacala and
Savanna Roper each led the way for Centre with 12 kills, followed by
Keeley Morton with ten.
- Cochran finished with a match high 37 assists for the Colonels to go along with five blocks.
- The Colonels were excellent at the net in the match, finishing with a dozen blocks compared to three for Rhodes. Morton and
Aby Dallas each were credited with six blocks for the match.

Bailey Vernon finished with 24 digs to lead the Colonels as Vacala added 16 digs.

Centre volleyball, still looking for their first conference win, will face the Hendrix Warriors on Sunday at noon.
