DANVILLE, Ky. – Savannah Elpers recorded a hat trick and
Caroline Brotzge added six total points as Centre field hockey easily handled visiting Concordia (WI) Sunday at South Turf Field, winning 9-2 to open the conference slate.
With their third win in a row, the Colonels improve to 3-2 overall and are 1-0 in the Southern Athletic Association, dropping associate-member Concordia to 4-2 (1-1 SAA).
HIGHLIGHTS

Sarah Biggs needed only 88 seconds to put Centre ahead, and Brotzge slammed home a feed from an
Emily Schank corner to quickly make it 2-0 less than five minutes after the opening whistle.
- In the 8th minute, Elpers scored the first of her trio of goals as Schank provided another assist.

Kara Tipton scored midway through the period, and Brotzge added another before the end of the half.
- Concordia's Megan McPike netted a pair of goals to make it 5-2 at the break.
- The Colonels marched home with second-half goals from Elpers, Biggs and
Maran Lee. Lee's goal was the first of her career.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre out-shot Concordia by a wide 26-3 margin, putting 20 on frame. The Colonels also had 10 penalty corners to the Falcons' four.
- Elpers and Biggs share the team lead with six goals this season, and Schank paces the squad with five assists.
