FRANKLIN, Ind. –The 15th-ranked Centre women's soccer team scored early and often Wednesday evening, rolling past Franklin by a 5-0 margin at Faught Stadium.
Alana Hughes continued her outstanding junior campaign with five points, helping Centre improve to 10-0 overall while dropping the host Grizzlies to 3-5-1.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Hughes needed barely three minutes to notch her ninth goal of the season and eighth in the past six matches.
Elizabeth Nelson provided the assist on what became Hughes' sixth game-winning goal.
- The two swapped roles in the 15th minute, as Hughes earned the assist on Nelson's goal to make it 2-0. It marked her fifth goal of her rookie season.
- Centre carried a 2-0 lead into the break, with goalie
Sarah Stodghill picking up five saves in the first 45 minutes.

Meghan Paynter wasted little time netting Centre's third goal, scoring on a Hughes assist only 45 seconds into the second period.

Keeghan Francis widened the lead as Hughes delivered her third assist of the evening.

Rilee Britton capped the scoring with her first collegiate goal off of
Sarah Sirkin's helper.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre out-shot Franklin 29-8 overall, but the defense clamped down in the second half to help turn in a 16-2 margin in the final period.
- Led by a stingy back line, the Colonels have held every opponent to five shots on goal or fewer this season. All told, Centre has taken 115 SOG to its opponents' 26.
