ATLANTA – Centre women's basketball came out on the wrong side of a defensive struggle against Oglethorpe Friday evening, falling by a 39-32 score inside Dorough Field House.
The Colonels drop to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the Southern Athletic Association in the low-scoring affair. The Stormy Petrels move to 12-3 (3-1), using a 16-4 fourth quarter run to secure the victory.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Offense was hard to come by for both sides early, Oglethorpe missed its first 10 shots and a
Kat Wilson 3-pointer was the only basket nearly five minutes in.
- Centre hit a cold spell in the second quarter, managing just two points.
- Oglethorpe led 16-12 after a first half in which the teams combined to shoot 11 of 50.
- The Colonels outscored the Stormy Petrels 13-7 in the third quarter to regain the lead, with
Abigail Stewart pacing Centre with four points.
- The Stormy Petrels ran away in the fourth, ultimately outscoring the Colonels by a 16-7 margin to claim the conference win.

- Centre shot a season-low 22% from the floor, although half its field goals came from beyond the 3-point line.
- Oglethorpe out-rebounded Centre by a slim 40-38 margin, but finished with 13 offensive boards.
- The Colonels held the Stormy Petrels to a season low 39 points, limiting their hosts to a 14 of 52 (26.9%) mark from the field and just 1 of 10 from beyond the arc.
- Wilson led Centre with eight points, while
Abigail Stewart had six points and a team-high eight rebounds.
