ROME, Ga. – Centre women's basketball dropped another close affair Sunday afternoon, falling 50-46 against Berry inside The Cage Center.
The Colonels have lost three in a row by a combined 13 points, sliding to 9-7 overall and 2-3 in the Southern Athletic Association. The host Vikings improved to 5-11 (1-4 SAA).
HIGHLIGHTS
- Both offenses were sluggish in the opening quarter, but despite just two made field goals the Colonels found themselves down only 10-9 after 10 minutes.
- All nine of Centre's first quarter points came from bench players, led by
Ellen Hicks' four.
-
Madison Marcum drained a 3-pointer to give the Colonels a lead to start the second quarter, but the Vikings answered with a 12-2 run to regain control.
- Still, Centre's offense finished the frame 7-for-11 and the Colonels responded to cut the halftime deficit to 28-26.
- The two sides continued to remain neck-and-neck in the third, as
Madison Rice's two early 3-pointers buoyed the Centre offense.

- Centre's first basket of the fourth didn't come until 1:15 remaining, as
Abigail Wehby's layup brought the Colonels within two possessions.
- The Colonels pulled within three on two occasions down the stretch, but Berry did enough at the free throw line to secure the victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
