JACKSON, Miss. – Junior
Perry Ayers netted a season-high 30 points as Centre men's basketball rolled past Millsaps, 84-55, Friday evening inside the Hangar Dome.
The Colonels move to 14-3 overall and 5-1 in the Southern Athletic Association, sending the host Majors to 10-7 overall and 2-4 in-conference.
Ayers hit 11 of 19 from the floor, including 6 of 11 from long range, and added a career-high-tying nine rebounds and three assists.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre jumped out to a 17-9 lead after 3-pointers from Ayers,
Bailey Rakes and
Tucker Sine.
- The Colonels later used a 13-0 run – powered by more triples from Ayers, Sine and
Art Walker – to take a 36-18 lead with under five to play in the first half.
- Ayers, who helped the Colonels overcome a second half deficit in last season's win at Millsaps, had 16 points in the opening period as Centre took a 41-27 lead into the break.

Jacob Bates hit a layup early in the second half to push Centre's lead up to 20 at 50-30, and the Colonels never looked back.
- Centre's largest lead came after back-to-back 3-pointers from
Hogan Brownley made it 84-53 late in the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre hit a season-high 15 3-pointers in the victory, shooting nearly 50% overall (29-59).
- Millsaps, meanwhile, connected on only 31% (16-52) of its shots, including a 4-for-21 effort from deep.
- Rakes followed Ayers with 10 points and a team-high four assists, while Walker and
KC Purvis chipped in six rebounds apiece.
