DANVILLE, Ky. – Trailing by 13 after one quarter, the Centre women's basketball squad rallied to defeat Rhodes, 60-56, Friday evening in Southern Athletic Association play inside Alumni Gymnasium.
Junior
Kat Wilson's 12-point second quarter helped spark the Colonels, who improve to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the SAA. The visiting Lynx fall to 8-5 for the year and 1-1 in-conference.
Wilson led all players with a season-high 21 points, going 7 of 13 overall and 3-for-5 from long range while adding seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Rhodes came out of the gates swinging, taking a double figure lead just five minutes into the first quarter.
- The Lynx's Maya Longacre scored the first bucket of the second period, but Wilson soon caught fire to help the Colonels close the gap.
- She hit all three of her 3-pointers in the period, and

Cheyenne Bunner combined for the other 10 points as Centre cut the deficit to 30-28 by halftime.

Madison Marcum helped the Colonels take their first lead of the game early in the third quarter, draining three consecutive 3-pointers.
- Rhodes closed the quarter on a strong run and carried a 48-45 advantage into the fourth.
- Centre nearly doubled up Rhodes in the fourth, outscoring its guests 15-8 to seal the conference victory. The Colonels limited the Lynx to just 3 of 11 shooting overall – including 0-for-3 from deep – while forcing four turnovers in the quarter.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Wilson tallied season highs in nearly every statistical category, including points, rebounds, field goals and blocks.
- Rhodes out-shot Centre in terms of field goal percentage, but the Colonels had just five turnovers to the Lynx's 13. Centre turned those 13 miscues into 14 points.
- The five turnovers were the fewest for the Colonels in nearly five years.
