DANVILLE, Ky. – Alexander Garuba scored his program-record 42nd goal Sunday afternoon, highlighting a 3-0 victory for Centre men's soccer over Rhodes at Andrew P. Amend Field.
Garuba passes Ryan Garvey (2009-12) on the all-time list, officially setting himself apart as the most prolific goal scorer the program has seen.
His effort Sunday helped the Colonels improve to 10-3-1 overall and 3-1 in the Southern Athletic Association, while sending the visiting Lynx home with a 3-9-1 mark (1-3 SAA).

Dylan Barth provided the opening score of the game for Centre, heading home a stunning pass from
Will Newton in the 21st minute. The play began with
Patrick Ferrell's long feed to Newton.
- Prior to the halftime whistle,
Matthew Beery cleaned up a ball in front of the goal and hit the back of the net. It was the junior's first collegiate goal and gave the Colonels a 2-0 advantage heading into the break.
- Barth was pivotal in contributing to Garuba's record-setting goal, as the junior drew a foul inside the 18-yard box in the 60th minute to earn a penalty kick. Garuba converted, sending his shot past the reach of the Rhodes keeper.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Garuba entered the season with 32 career goals, tied for fourth most and needing an even 10 scores for the record. The Atlanta product is now fourth in all-time points with 95.
- The Colonels would out-shoot the Lynx 19-5, with an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. Centre also had a 5-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Tate Johnson recorded two saves in his sixth clean sheet of the season.
