DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre field hockey continued its record-setting 2019 campaign Sunday, routing visiting Sewanee in a 7-0 victory at South Turf Field.
The No. 16 Colonels improve to 14-0 overall, adding to their longest winning streak in program history and best start to a season ever. Sewanee falls to 3-9 overall after Sunday's loss, in what is designated as a non-conference contest.
Sarah Biggs recorded her second hat trick of the season in the victory, highlighting the individual efforts from the short-handed Colonels.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Both of Centre's first two goals came following penalty corners. Biggs converted in the 10th minute, getting an assist from Coomes to open the scoring.
- Coming off her first career hat trick, Coomes would score just two minutes later after a well-placed deflection from
Erin Bozdech.

Olivia Carter made it 3-0 in the final stages of the first quarter, dribbling into the shooter's circle before sending a rocket to the back of the cage.
- Less than three minutes into the second quarter,
Caroline Brotzge slipped an unassisted goal past Sewanee's keeper to lift the lead to 4-0 – a margin Centre carried into the half.
- Biggs would find the back of the net again early in the third quarter, rebounding her own saved shot for her second goal of the afternoon.
- Her hat trick was completed later in the period, after she redirected a ball from
Maran Lee following a penalty corner in the 41st minute.
- Lee would make sure to get on the board in the fourth quarter, putting away a missile from just inside the shooter's circle,
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Sewanee recorded the first shot of the of the game, but Centre's back line kept the Tigers without a shot the rest of the way. The Colonels would finish with a 22-1 advantage in total attempts.
- Centre recorded six penalty corner opportunities to Sewanee's one.
- Lee finished with her first three-point game of her career, providing a goal and assist.
- Biggs now has four multi-goal games this season, including a hat trick at Transylvania back on Sept. 28.
