Centre volleyball drops Senior Day tilt to Berry

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre volleyball welcomed the Berry Vikings to Alumni Gym as the Colonels celebrated the careers of seniors Rylee Bledsoe, Samantha Goldizen, Shelley Lownds, Peyton Vacala and Bailey Vernon. Centre played better than they did in the first meeting with the Vikings, falling in four sets.

HIGHLIGHTS

- The first set was tightly contest throughout, with neither team leading by more than two points most of the way. The set featured seven lead changes and 17 ties, with the last one coming at 21-21, but the Vikings scored four of the last five points to take a 25-22 win.
- In the second set, both teams struggled with service, with multiple errors on each side. The Vikings had a strong set at the net, blocking several Centre attack attempts and eventually winning 25-17.
- The Colonels played from behind for most of the third set, but stayed within striking distance. Centre finally took the lead at 19-17 thanks to a 4-0 run, capped off by an ace from Bledsoe. Berry took the lead at 23-22, but the Colonels responded with the next two points to force a set point. As the set moved to extra points, Katie Hall broke the tie three straight times, and then Aby Dallas put the final kill home on a marathon 28-26 win for the Colonels.
- Centre once again had to play from behind in the fourth set, but stayed close like in the previous set. Kills by Alice Rodgerson and Josie Grace-Mudd fought off match point for the Colonels, but Berry came through for the final kill on a 25-22 win to take the match.
