DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre volleyball concluded the conference portion of the 2019 schedule with a rematch against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels. The last meeting went five sets before the Colonels won, but this time the Colonels made quicker work of the Petrels, winning in straight sets.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels set the tone early on in the first set, scoring 12 of the first 13 points and never looking back, winning 25-8 after consecutive kills from
Katie Hall and
Alice Rodgerson.
- Oglethorpe made it tougher in the second set, rallying from an eight-point deficit to narrow the gap to a single point at 22-21. The Colonels responded after a timeout, scoring three of the next four to take a 25-22 win, ending in similar fashion with kills from Hall and Rodgerson to seal it.
- In the third set, Centre put in a solid performance, steadily building the lead throughout and winning by a score of 25-19 as a block from Hall provided the final point of the match.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- A day after achieving a new career high in kills, Hall led the way once again for Centre with a game high 11 kills, with Rodgerson adding ten and five each from
Aby Dallas and
Josie Grace-Mudd.

Meredith Phillips had 30 assists for the Colonels in the sweep, three more than Oglethorpe had as a team. She also pitched in three stealth kills from the setter position.

Peyton Vacala led all players with 11 digs.
- The Colonels finished with a dozen aces for the game, with Phillips and Grace-Mudd providing four each.
- With the win today, Centre doubled its conference win total from one season ago.
