MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Centre men's soccer defeated Berry 2-1 Friday evening in Southern Athletic Association action at Bob Pearson Field.
The Colonels improve to 7-3-1 overall, winning their first SAA match of the season while dropping the Vikings to 6-5-1 (0-2 SAA).
HIGHLIGHTS
- After nearly 44 minutes of scoreless action,
Nathan Wilcox found the back of the net to make it 1-0 at the half.
Ethan Noel fed the assist for Wilcox to volley home.
- Seven minutes into the second half, Berry's Jake Williamson leveled the score on a set piece goal.
- Centre's answer was quick, as
Nafiz Budeiri found
Dylan Barth for the go-head score just two minutes later.
- That marker would prove to be the game-winner, as the Vikings lone shot in the final half hour was saved by
Haydon Korfhage.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels would more than double the Vikings in total shots (14 to 6) with a 4 to 2 advantage in shots on target.
- Berry went offsides eight times throughout the match, but did hold a slight 4-3 edge in corner kick opportunities.
