HANOVER, Ind. – Centre men's lacrosse ran away from Hanover Saturday afternoon, winning by an 18-8 score in the Panthers' Alumni Stadium.
The Colonels improve to 2-1 overall, remaining undefeated against the Panthers (0-1) in the teams' all-time series. Centre has defeated Hanover every season since the program's inception in 2011.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The host Panthers scored the game's first goal less than 90 seconds into the game, but eland Gray and
Nic Malubay shortly followed with goals to give Centre its first lead.
- Centre finished the first quarter with three unanswered goals, including a man-up conversion from
Chase Poplin, leading 6-3 after the period.
- Hanover played Centre closer in the second quarter, pulling within two goals on two separate occasions.
- First half hat tricks from Gray and
Jack Shannon helped the Colonels carry a 10-6 lead into the break.
- Centre dominated the third quarter, ultimately putting the contest out of reach by outscoring Hanover 7-0.
- Three of the Colonels' goals in the third came from man-up situations, and Malubay led all individuals with three scores in the quarter.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Malubay and Poplin led the team with four goals apiece, while Gray, Shannon and
John Morrison each scored multiple goals. Shannon also paced the Colonels with three assists.
- Centre out shot Hanover 42-32, but was a perfect 4-for-4 on extra man opportunities while the Panthers converted on just 1 of 6.
- The Colonels claimed 15 of 28 faceoffs, as
Lucas Mozingo won 10 of his 19 tries.

Connor Jongewaard totaled 11 saves between the pipes for the Colonels in 45 minutes, and
Jack Perryman had five saves in reserve action.
