HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. –Centre men's lacrosse faced a tough opponent in Hampden-Sydney Saturday afternoon, falling 12-4 against the Tigers at Lewis C. Everett Stadium.
The Colonels dip to 2-2 overall while the host Tigers, who received votes outside the latest USILA Coaches Poll, improve to 4-2 with the win.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Goals from Jack Hayden and Bobby Clagett gave Hampden-Sydney an early 2-0 advantage, but
Jack Shannon put the Colonels on the board later in the quarter with an unassisted score.
- Following a late first quarter score from the Tigers,
Leland Gray hit the back of the net on a pass from
Anthony DiMichele, bringing Centre within 3-2.
- The Tigers rattled off four unanswered goals the rest of the period, however, including one in the final second to make it 7-2.

Padraic Dermody scored the first goal of the third quarter, and
Nic Malubay added one later in the frame, but the Tigers shut out the Colonel the rest of the way to secure the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hampden-Sydney out-shot Centre 42-24, also finishing with a 46-27 advantage in ground balls while securing 14 of 19 faceoffs.
- The Tigers converted on all three of their man-up opportunities, while the Colonels went 0-3.
- Shannon led Centre with six ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Connor Jongewaard recorded 17 saves between the pipes for the Colonels.
