DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's basketball celebrated its annual Play 4 Kay night Friday evening in Alumni Gymnasium, but between the lines fell to visiting Oglethorpe, 53-43.
The Colonels (12-11, 5-7 SAA) hung with the Stormy Petrels (18-5, 9-3) from start to finish, but saw their three-game winning streak come to a close in a narrow loss.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Turnovers proved costly early on, as Centre committed eight in the first quarter alone and trailed 12-7 after 10 minutes.
- A 3-pointer from
Rachel Jennings near the 6:35 mark of the second quarter brought the Colonels within three, 15-12.
- The Colonels would go into the half down 23-17, however, as the Petrels shot nearly 53% from the floor in the opening two quarters.
- Centre's offense was clicking in the third quarter, powered by threes from
Kat Wilson aggressive play from
Abigail Wehby.
- Oglethorpe had quick answers for every Colonel basket, it seemed, not allowing Centre to go on any significant runs.

Presley Chirico brought Centre within four, 44-40, with about two minutes to play, but the Petrels would slam the door shut on the victory with a late flurry.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Oglethorpe shot an efficient 47% overall and totaled 19 points off of 19 Centre turnovers.
- The Petrels also held advantages in points in the paint (26-18) and bench points (15-13).
- Wilson finished in double figures for the 14th time this season, totaling 13 points while knocking down three 3-pointers. She's shooting nearly 48% (41-86) this year from long range.

Abigail Stewart led Centre with five rebounds, while Wehby recorded a team-high four assists.
