DANVILLE, Ky. – Trailing by six with seven minutes remaining, Centre women's lacrosse staged a remarkable comeback to shock visiting Capital, 14-13, in an overtime victory at South Turf Field.
Abby Whitford scored three straight goals during the late run, and
Amelia Tomasulo netted the game-winner with seven seconds left in the first extra period to complete the rally.
Centre improves to 6-2 overall with the win, dropping Capital to 3-4.
HIGHLIGHTS

Mary Katherine Hardy scored the game's first goal barely 30 seconds in, but Capital built a 5-2 lead midway through the opening half.
- Mary Katherine would finish with a hat trick in the first half, as
Bella Tacogue and
Hannah Hardy also added goals. The Crusaders led 9-5 at the break, however.

Hannah Hardy netted a goal off a Whitford assist early in the second half, marking her 100th career score as a Colonel.
- The Crusaders converted enough goals to make it 13-7 with just 7:15 left on the clock.
- Centre began its incredible comeback when Tomasulo scored off
McKenna Hulette's assist at the 6:31 mark.
- Whitford then went on a scoring tear, hitting the back of the net three times to make it 13-11.

Hannah Hardy converted a free position attempt with two minutes left to make it 13-12, and after
Katy Haering forced a late Capital turnover, Tacogue scored on a free position of her own to tie the game with just 12 seconds on the clock.

Lola Duff made two clutch saves in the golden-goal overtime, keeping the game going until Hardy was able to draw a free position attempt with only 14 seconds left.
- Her shot was saved, but Tomasulo was there to scoop up the ground ball and score to officially end the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- After Capital took 10 of the first half's 15 draw controls, Centre claimed 10 of 13 in the second half as part of its comeback.
Mary Katherine Hardy had six and
Hannah Hardy finished with five to lead the Colonels.
- Whitford finished with a career-high five points, totaling three goals and two assists.
- Haering caused four turnovers to lead the defensive effort, as
Clare Heaney,
Mary Allen,
Hannah Hardy and Hulette each forced two turnovers. Haering also co-led the team with
Mary Katherine Hardy in ground balls, recording five.
- Duff had 13 saves in the win, including nine across the second half and overtime periods.
