Gray totals six points in 12-8 win over Augustana

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's lacrosse claimed a 12-8 victory against Augustana Saturday afternoon at Farris Stadium, contending with multiple lightning delays and other inclement weather throughout the contest.

The Colonels improve to 3-2 overall with the victory while send the visiting Vikings home with a 1-3 record.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Nic Malubay wrapped around the side of the cage to score the game's first goal at the 9:32 mark, following a 30-minute lightning delay.
- Augustana scored twice to take its first lead of the afternoon, but Leland Gray converted a feed from Jack Shannon less than a minute later to level the margin.
- Later in the first, Vincent Pisacano caused a turnover and hit Gray for a goal in transition to give Centre a lead it would ultimately hold on to.
- The Colonels dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Vikings 5-2 to carry an 8-4 lead into the half, where the game's second lightning delay occurred. Malubay netted the quarter's first goal, and Chase Poplin, JR Brockman and John Morrison added to the tally.
- After Shannon and Will Lathram scored early in the third, Augustana rallied with three unanswered to put pressure on Centre heading into the fourth quarter.
- Gray scored a man-up goal in the opening stages of the fourth quarter, however, and Anthony DiMichele added another to squash any comeback bid.
