DANVILLE, Ky. – Bella Tacogue scored a career-high six goals and helped the Centre women's lacrosse squad sprint away from visiting Oglethorpe Saturday afternoon, winning by a sizeable 19-4 margin at South Turf Field.
The Colonels improve to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the Southern Athletic Association, winning their eighth overall match in a row. Oglethorpe dips to 4-5 (0-3 SAA) with the loss.
Along with Tacogue,
Mary Katherine Hardy (4 goals),
Hannah Hardy (3),
Sloan Reding (3) and
Amelia Tomasulo (2) each finished with multiple scores.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Although they were held off the board for nearly four minutes, Centre eventually began scoring in bunches to take a commanding lead.

Mary Katherine Hardy opened the floodgates with an unassisted goal near the 26:16 mark, and Tacogue and Tomasulo quickly tallied a pair to make it 3-0.
- The younger Hardy and Reding added two more Colonels goals to drive the lead up to 5-0 by the midway point of the opening period.
- Oglethorpe's Madison Goss broke the shutout with a goal near the eight-minute mark, but Centre would carry a 10-1 lead into the half after scores from
Abby Whitford and Reding.
- Centre's dominance ebbed marginally in the opening stages of the second half, as the teams traded goals until it was 13-4 with 18:15 remaining.
- The lead was never in doubt, however, and the Colonels would score six unanswered to finish the game on a running clock.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Tacogue's six goals and seven points marked personal bests. She was followed in total points by
Mary Katherine Hardy, who tallied two assists in addition to her four goals.

Marina Burke and Tomasulo each finished with two assists, as well, but Whitford led all players with three helpers.
Hannah Hardy also paced all players with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers.
- Centre overwhelmed Oglethorpe in total shots, 53 to 8, and also dominated ground balls by a 31-14 margin. The Petrels' goalie proved stingy at times, though, coming up with 26 saves.
