Colonels overwhelm Vikings in SAA-opening rout

ROME, Ga. – Centre women's lacrosse dismantled Berry Sunday morning, winning by a 20-1 score under rainy conditions at Valhalla Stadium to open Southern Athletic Association action.

The Colonels (3-2, 1-0 SAA) matched their largest margin of victory in head coach Monica Scott's tenure, remaining undefeated against the Vikings (0-5, 0-2) since the program formed in 2011.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The lopsided matchup was evident less than 30 seconds into the contest, as McKenna Hulette scored an unassisted goal on the Colonels' first possession.
- Centre won the first four draw controls and scored the game's first four goals as Hannah Hardy and Mary Katherine Hardy added to the early tally.
- Berry claimed only two draw controls in the opening half, the first of which led to the Vikings' lone goal of the game near the 16:26 mark.
- Centre's answer was swift and decisive. Sloan Reding scored 27 seconds later, and Bella Tacogue recorded a hat trick in just 62 seconds to make it 8-1 in the blink of an eye.
- The Colonels ultimately scored the first period's last nine goals, carrying a 13-1 advantage and a running clock into the break. Abby Whitford joined the other first-half scorers during the run.
- Rain picked up in the second half, but it did little to slow down Centre's efficiency. The Colonels dominated possession with a 12-1 shot advantage and 7-1 draw control edge in the final period.
- Centre outscored Berry by a 7-0 margin in the second period, led by Reding's two goals. Clare Heaney and Marina Burke also got in on the scoring action.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Tacogue and Mary Katherine Hardy led Centre with four goals apiece, while Hannah Hardy, Hulette and Reding each tallied three. It marked Reding's first career multi-goal effort.
- Hulette also totaled three assists to lead Centre with six points, and Hannah Hardy added two helpers. Mary Katherine Hardy, Amelia Tomasulo, Reding and Whitford each had one assist.
- Mary Katherine Hardy and Tacogue each had five ground balls for the Colonels, and, along with Hannah Hardy, co-led Centre with two caused turnovers.
