Colonels rout Warriors for third straight win

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre women's lacrosse team won its third consecutive contest on a rainy Saturday as they defeated the Hendrix Warriors by a score of 20-3. Centre improved to 4-2 and 2-0 in the Southern Athletic Association while the Warriors fell to 3-3 and 1-1 in conference play.

HIGHLIGHTS

- Like they did in their previous two games, the Colonels came out with guns blazing, scoring a flurry of goals in the opening minutes. Bella Tacogue, Amelia Tomasulo and Hannah Hardy all got into the scoring column in the first two minutes of action.
- The Colonels kept the pressure on for the entire first half, closing out the period with nine consecutive goals, including three straight from Tacogue and three from Mary Katherine Hardy, to take a 15-2 lead going into the locker room.
- The pace finally slowed in the second half, but Hannah Hardy had a brilliant final frame, scoring or assisting on four of Centre's five goals for the period.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Newcomer McKenna Hulette paced the Colonels with five goals on the day, with Tacogue and Mary Katherine Hardy adding four and rookie Sloan Reding chipping in with three.
- Hannah Hardy finished with five assists to tie younger sister MK with six points against the Warriors, while Abby Whitford added three assists.
- Centre had a 19-6 edge over Hendrix in draw controls, with Tomasulo leading the way with six for the Colonels. Centre also went a perfect nine for nine on clears in today's contest.
- The Colonels overwhelmed the Warriors in shots on goal by a margin of 29-6, including a 22-4 edge in the first half.

Centre women's lacrosse will go back on the road Wednesday night as they travel to Indiana to face DePauw.
