Centre celebrates Senior Day with sixth straight win

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's lacrosse scored early and often Saturday afternoon, coasting past visiting Oglethorpe by an 18-2 margin while celebrating Senior Day at Farris Stadium.
 
The Colonels' sixth consecutive victory moves them to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the SAA, while sending the Stormy Petrels home with a 4-8 (0-4 SAA) ledger. 
 
Prior to the game, Centre honored the careers of seniors Leland Gray and Graeme Warner.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Jack Shannon opened the scoring around the 13:41 mark, and Gray notched the second goal just 16 seconds later to quickly make it 2-0.
- Oglethorpe netted its first goal soon after, but a 5-0 Colonel run to end the quarter put the home side firmly in command.
- Nolan Irey and Chase Poplin joined the seniors Gray and Warner in scoring.
- After a scoreless stretch in the early stages of the second quarter, Gray hit the back of the net to make it 8-1. 
- Nic Malubay scored goals just eight seconds apart later in the period, helping Centre carry a 10-2 lead into the half.
- The Colonels would score eight goals in the second half, led primarily by a host of reserves.
- Miles Diehl scored all three goals in the third quarter, as Padraic Dermody, Drew Greenblatt and Caleb Anderson added tallies in the fourth.  
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre took 58 shots to Oglethorpe's 15, putting 35 on target. The Colonels also overwhelmed the Petrels with a 43-18 advantage in ground balls. 
- Lucas Mozingo won 15 of 16 faceoffs, and Jack Pharies claimed five of his eight tries.
- Gray and Warner both recorded hat tricks in their final regular season home game. Gray added three assists and Warner totaled one.

The Colonels travel to Memphis, Tenn., for a crucial SAA meeting against first-place Rhodes Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
