DANVILLE, Ky. –Centre women's lacrosse scored in bunches during the first half of their game against Southern Athletic Association foe Birmingham-Southern Saturday afternoon, leading to a lopsided 23-9 victory at South Turf Fields.
The Colonels, who had five individuals record hat tricks, improve to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the SAA, sending the Panthers home with a 6-8 (2-3 SAA) mark.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The visiting Panthers scored a free position goal just 11 seconds in, and Centre sputtered with a few early turnovers.
- Eventually, Centre's attack settled in and would go on to score a season-high 16 first-half goals across the final 25 minutes.

Bella Tacogue scored the first of her five goals to open Centre's scoring.

Amelia Tomasulo,
Abby Whitford and
Mary Katherine Hardy all hit the back of the net within just 35 seconds, giving Centre a 4-1 lead in a flash.
- Following a BSC goal near the midway point, the Colonels went on a five-goal tear to open up a 10-4 advantage. The flurry spanned less than three minutes, as Tacogue, Tomasulo,
Marina Burke and
McKenna Hulette recorded scores.
- Whitford's goal with just 19 seconds left in the half capped a late 6-1 stretch from Centre, all but putting the game out of reach before the intermission.
- Centre scored the first six in the second period – including three from Hulette – to signal a running clock.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels dominated the shot count, totaling 49 to BSC's 20 (42 to 20 in SOG).
- Centre claimed 22 of 34 draw controls, including a 16-8 advantage in the first half that helped the Colonels build their lead. MK Hardy recorded a career-high 13 draw controls.
- Hulette's six goals set a new career benchmark for the rookie, and Tacogue's five fell one shy of her personal best.
- Along with her three goals, Tomasulo provided a team-leading three assists – good for her career high.
- Tacogue and MK Hardy each finished with five ground balls, helping the Colonels finish with a 26-14 advantage as a team.

Katy Haering led the defense with four caused turnovers, and
Lola Duff finished with nine saves in goal.
