Colonels take down Big Red in 3-0 shutout

DANVILLE, Ky. – The eighth-ranked Centre women's soccer team continued their strong start to the season with a 3-0 victory over Denison Sunday afternoon at Andrew P. Amend Field.

Centre, which defeated Denison in extra time a season ago, improves to 6-0 overall and 3-0 at home. The Big Red slide to 1-3-3.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre maintained over 55 percent of the possession in the first half, and would end up with a 10-1 advantage in total shots.
- Alana Hughes was able to put the Colonels ahead in the 22nd minute, drawing a penalty kick and converting after her shot pinged off both posts before crossing the goal line.
- Meghan Paynter doubled the lead in the 60th minute, capitalizing on a failed clear attempt by the Bid Red and hitting the back of the net for the second time this season.
- Mills Mullen scored her third of the year and Centre's third of the afternoon in the 79th minute to ice the victory, cleaning up a saved shot by teammate Annie Stauffer.
