ALLIANCE, Ohio – Centre women's soccer continues to march past its opponents, winning by a 4-0 margin against Mount Union Sunday afternoon.
The No. 8 Colonels improve to 7-0 while extending their regular season win streak up to 29 matches. The Purple Raiders, who fell by a similar 4-0 margin last year in Danville, slide to 2-2-1.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre's attack wasted no time in securing a lead for the visitors, as
Alana Hughes assisted
Taylor Gebhart's goal in just the sixth minute.
- Hughes was helped by
Meghan Paynter in the 22nd minute to double the lead and increase her season total to six goals.
- Keeper
Jonelle Barron recorded more saves (six) in the first half than she's had in all six prior matches combined, helping the Colonels take their 2-0 lead into the break.

Hannah Bandura netted her first goal of 2019 in the 71st minute, with
Brooke Smithson providing an assist.
- With 35 seconds remaining, Paynter iced the victory with her third goal of the season.

- The Colonels held the Purple Raiders to just one shot attempt in the second half, and would out-shoot their hosts 21-8 overall. Hughes paced all players with five shots – all on target.
- Centre finished with nine corners to Mount Union's two.
