Colonels remain perfect with 5-1 win at Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Less than 24 hours removed from a dramatic 3-2 extra time win at Roanoke, the no. 18 Centre field hockey team completed a successful road trip of Virginia, cruising to a 5-1 win over the Bridgewater Eagles.

HIGHLIGHTS

- One of the keys to the Colonels' success thus far this season has been hot starts, and today's game was no exception, as Sarah Biggs found Megan Coomes for the contest's first goal just five minutes in.
- Centre got back on the board in the late stages of the first period as Savannah Elpers scored off the assist from Caroline Brotzge with one minute to go in the quarter.
- Brotzge got her second assist of the game early in the second period as she delivered one to Biggs, who put the Colonels up 3-0, which is where it stayed for the rest of the half.
- In the second half, Biggs got into the scoring column one more time, this time off the assist from Elpers. Elpers put the finishing touches on Centre's scoring for the day.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Centre dominated possession against the Eagles, enjoying an advantage of 26-4 in shots, including 23-4 in shots on goal. Biggs led the way with seven shots on goal for the Colonels.
- Biggs and Elpers each finished with two goals and an assist to lead the way for the 8-0 Colonels.
