LEXINGTON, Ky. – Fresh off their first win of the season, Centre volleyball headed north for the annual rivalry tilt with the Transylvania Pioneers, who received votes on Tuesday's AVCA Top 25. The Colonels fell to the Pioneers in straight sets.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Transylvania forced the Colonels to play from behind early in the first set after scoring the first three points. The Pioneers used two separate 4-0 runs to put away a 25-14 win.
- In the second set, the Pioneers hit an outstanding .419 and broke it open with a run of nine consecutive points, eventually winning by a score of 25-10.
- Another 9-0 Transy run midway through the third set did the Colonels in, as the Pioneers pulled away to a 25-11 win to finish off the match.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- On a night where kills were hard to come by for the Colonels, Savanna Roper paced the team with seven, followed by Josie Grace-Mudd with six.
- Peyton Vacala set both a match high and season high with 28 digs.
NEXT UP
Centre volleyball will be out of action for the next week before their next game on Sept. 10 as the Colonels welcome Division II Indiana University Southeast to new-look Alumni Gym for their home opener.
