BEXLEY, Ohio – In the 2020 season opener for both teams, Capital (1-0) jumped out to an early two-goal lead and never looked back, upending the Colonels (0-1), 16-8, on Saturday afternoon.
Capital avenged an overtime loss to the Colonels last season.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Capital scored the game's first goal just 30 seconds in, followed by another less than two minutes later.
- The Crusaders' goals went unanswered until junior Mary Katherine Hardy found the back of the net on an unassisted goal in the third minute of the game.
- Hardy went on to find the back of the net two more times in the first half, bringing the Colonels within two goals of the Crusaders.
- Capital would score four of the first five in the second half to widen its advantage, and later reeled off five unanswered to ice the game.
- Sloan Reding tied for game-high honors with four goals of her own, recording three in the second half.

- Capital out-shot the Colonels 30-21, including 22-15 in shots on goal.
- The Crusaders lead the play in the circle, with a 16-10 advantage on draw controls.
- Centre committed 23 turnovers, just two shy of Capital's 25, and had a 16-14 edge in caused turnovers.
