Colonels rout Hawks behind hot start

DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre men's lacrosse (2-1) advanced to secure their second straight home win, defeating Huntingdon (3-2) 16-6 Sunday morning at Farris Stadium. 

Centre opened the game early scoring three goals to take a 3-0 lead less than three minutes into the first quarter. Six different Colonels scored, including two apiece for senior John Morrison and sophomore Caleb Anderson.

Junior Nic Mulabay had a career high six goals, with one being unassisted. Freshman Will Hubbs also had a game high with eight points off of four goals and four assists.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Padraic Dermody opened the scoring less than a minute into the game with an assist by Jack Shannon.
- Hubbs added to the quick start with back-to-back goals to close out the first two minutes and fifty-nine seconds of play.
- Both Hubbs and Malubay earned hat tricks before the end of the first quarter.
- Malubay, Morrison, and Anderson netted three in a row for the Colonels to give them a 12-0 lead with 10:04 to play in the first half.
- Huntingdon answered back with three goals by three different players, being one man up on the last in the second quarter.
- Huntingdon's Zach Barnhill opened the scoring in the second half. Malubay responded back with an unassisted goal three minutes later, and Hubbs would go on to get his second unassisted goal of the night in the last minute of the third quarter.
- Senior Will Anderson assisted on his second goal of the night, helping junior Miles Diehl close out the game netting Centre's 16th goal.

INSIDE THE BOX 
- The Colonels out-shot Huntingdon 43-25.
- The Colonel defense kept the Hawks from finding the back of the net for the entire first and third quarters.
- Centre had the upper hand in face-offs, dominating Huntingdon 21-5. Lucas Mozingo claimed 10 at the faceoff X, while Alex Mozingo won six and Jack Pharies had five.
