DANVILLE, Ky.- The Centre women's lacrosse squad (2-3) defeated the Berry Vikings (1-5) Saturday at South Turf Field, opening Southern Athletic Association action
Centre dominated the game by scoring 10 unanswered goals by six different players in the first 18 minutes.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre started the game scoring early within the first two minutes when Mary Katherine Hardy assisted McKenna Hulette in connecting with the net.
- Hulette would soon assist Sloan Reding in doubling the score less than three minutes later.
- Abby Whitford and Hardy each recorded hat tricks. Hardy recorded her hat trick within the first half while Whitford recorded all three of her goals in the second.
- Berry's Cydney Maddox connected with Carlere May in the last minutes of the first half to make it a 12-1 score.
- In the second half, the Colonels would go on to get three goals within the first five minutes, making it 15-1.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Hardy had an impressive show with a career-high-tying five goals, two assists, four draw controls, and six ground balls. Hardy would also record a game high of seven points.
- Berry committed 29 turnovers in contrast to the Colonels' 16.
- Centre overtook the Vikings 15-4 in draw controls.
- Centre more than doubled Berry's ground balls, 26-12.
- Hulette and Katy Haering co-led Centre with five draw controls apiece.
