Centre wins third straight in SAA rout over Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. – Centre women's lacrosse turned in another impressive showing Saturday, thumping Hendrix by a 21-6 score at Warrior Field.
 
The Colonels have won three in a row, improving to 3-3 overall and an unblemished 2-0 in the Southern Athletic Association. The host Warriors slide to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the SAA.
 
Bella Tacogue and Sloan Reding each scored five goals, while Abby Whitford recorded a career-high nine points on four goals and five assists.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Hendrix scored the first goal Saturday, and even led 3-2 nearly eight minutes into the game.
- Centre had a major response in store, however, devastating the Warriors with 10 unanswered goals in barely 10 minutes of game time.
- McKenna Hulette got the flurry started, and Tacogue scored four her five goals during the stretch to help lead the way.
- A late goal from Reding made it 15-4 at the half.
- Hulette and Whitford hit the back of the net twice each in the second period as Centre coasted home.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Whitford's five assists were one shy of the program record, and her nine total points were two short of Centre's highest mark.
- Reding's five scores were her collegiate career high, and Hulette's four goals were a season high.
- Marina Burke dished three assists to go with one goal.
- Mary Katherine Hardy recorded two goals, 13 draw controls and five caused turnovers. Katy Haering also caused five turnovers.
- Centre out-shot Hendrix 44-13 overall, putting 38 shots on target. The Colonels also proved successful on 42 of 44 clear attempts, compared to the Warriors' 16 of 30 effort.
- The Colonels claimed 23 of 28 draw controls.

The Colonels take on Vassar Sunday at 2 p.m. in a neutral-site meeting at Sewanee, Tenn.
