JACKSON, Miss. – Centre women's basketball ran into a hot Millsaps team Saturday afternoon, falling 68-40 in The Hangar Dome.
The host Majors improve to 5-0 overall with the win, while the Colonels are still searching for their first victory after falling to 0-3.
Presley Chirico scored a career-high 14 points in the loss, connecting on 6 of 10 from the floor.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Both sides were slow to start offensively, but the Majors hit four 3-pointers in the closing minutes of the first period to take an 18-11 advantage.
- Millsaps hit its first five shots of the second period, as well, maintaining its double-digit lead.

Emma Rose Vincent scored the final basket of the half on an assist from Peyton Herold, but Centre still found itself trailing 33-22 at the break.
- Chirico and
Rachel Jennings helped the Colonels go nearly point for point with the Majors in the third quarter, combining to score over half of Centre's points during the frame.
- The Majors would deny any comeback bid in the fourth, however, ending the game on a 19-0 run.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Chirico added four rebounds to her team-high 14 points, co-leading the team with
Natalie Duggins. Duggins also scored six points.
- Jennings scored seven points for the Colonels, and Herold led the team with four assists.
- Millsaps owned the glass with a 37-24 rebounding edge.
