Sidaway’s brace highlights Centre’s eighth straight victory

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Centre women's soccer continued rolling through the competition, defeating Birmingham-Southern by a 4-0 score at Preston Goldfarb Field at Berylson Soccer Park.
 
The 15th-ranked Colonels improved to 11-1-1 overall and 4-0 in the Southern Athletic Association, dropping the host Panthers to 3-8-2 overall and 0-4 in the league behind a two-goal outing from Megan Sidaway.
 
Centre is now 16-0-1 all-time against BSC.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre took eight shots in the opening 15 minutes, a handful of which were saved by BSC's Ardis Haskell. Maggie Corbett eventually put Centre on the board in the 16th minute, scoring her second goal of the season off an assist from Cameron Zak.
- The Colonel attack continued, and in the 24th minute Sidaway converted after getting an assist from Mills Mullen.
- In the closing seconds of the opening half, Liz Hundley scored the first goal of her collegiate career as Christina Jeffers provided the helper, making it 3-0 at the break.
- Sidaway would score her team-leading eighth goal of the season barely 90 seconds into the second half. Elizabeth Nelson recorded the assist.  
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Sidaway has four goals in the last three matches and is the SAA's co-leader in total goals this season.
- Jonelle Barron finished with two saves in goal for the Colonels. Grace Dutcher also played minutes in a reserve role.
- Centre out-shot BSC 32-3 including a 14-2 edge in shots on goal. It was the second most attempts taken by the Colonels this season. Sidaway led the team with seven tries while Mullen and Nelson had five apiece.
