DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's soccer overcame a first-half deficit to defeat Rhodes by a 2-1 score Friday evening at Andrew P. Amend Field.
The Colonels improved to 6-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the Southern Athletic Association with the win, sending the Lynx packing at 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the league.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Both sides had scoring chances in the first half, but the visitors took advantage late in the period to take a 1-0 advantage into the lockers.
- Centre leveled the score early in the second half on a goal from
Dylan Barth. He punched home the ball after direct passes from
Sota Ippongi and
Ryan Roussel.
- The Colonels picked up their attacking pace following the goal, and Roussel and
Taylor Nelson each put shots on target that required a save from Rhodes' Mitchell Fenton.

Nathan Wilcox eventually hit the match-winner in the 79th minute after chasing down a long pass from Barth. He beat Fenton to the ball, chipping it past the keeper from some 30 yards out to put Centre ahead.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Barth now has three goals and a team-high six assists, also leading the squad with 12 total points. Wilcox scored his fourth goal of the season, tied with Ippongi for the team lead.
- Centre finished with 11 shots to Rhodes' nine. Both teams had four corner kick opportunities.

Haydon Korfhage totaled five saves for the Colonels.
