DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre field hockey escaped South Turf Field with a thrilling 3-2 victory against Rhodes Saturday afternoon following a penalty shootout.
With the win, Centre improved to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Athletic Association. It also secured a perfect 9-0 record at home this season. The Lynx fall to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in the SAA.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Coomes started things off with a bang, scoring a breakaway goal less than 30 seconds into the game. It was her eighth goal of the season and fourth in the last three contests.

Sienna Joseph came up with a save following a Rhodes penalty corner in the second half, but RC Kugler maintained pressure and eventually scored a game-tying goal.
- Centre regained the lead in the third quarter after taking advantage of a penalty corner.
Maran Lee found the back of the cage off an assist from
Meredith Wickenheiser for her seventh score of the season.
- Rhodes answered again in the fourth as Grace Utz converted on a penalty corner insert from Elinor West.
- Neither team scored in the two extra sessions, although Centre dominated possession and out-shot Rhodes 12-4. A timely save from Joseph late in the first overtime was a defensive highlight that kept the score level.
- Joseph proved to be the difference in the penalty shootout, allowing only one goal in five tries from the Lynx.
- Wickenheiser and Coomes each made their attempts to end the shootout 2-1 in favor of Centre.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre finished with 23 shots to Rhodes' 11, holding a 16-9 advantage in shots on target. The Colonels also came away with a 14-8 edge in penalty corners.
- Joseph recorded a career-high seven saves, earning her 10th winning decision of the season.
