Colonels claim SAA regular season share in 5-0 win at Transy

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Centre field hockey took care of business Saturday evening, defeating Transylvania by a 5-0 score at Pat Deacon Stadium to claim at least a share of the Southern Athletic Association regular season title.

The Colonels improve to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in the SAA, while the host Pioneers fall to 0-16 and 0-4 in-conference.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre had numerous attacking chances during the opening quarter, but it wasn't until the second when Kate Pilcher would begin the scoring. She cleaned up a scrum in front of goal to put the Colonels on the board.
- She doubled her tally minutes later, redirecting a pass from Meredith Wickenheiser to make it 2-0.
- Wickenheiser got in on the scoring later in the quarter, taking a handoff from Ellie Dunham following a penalty corner and slamming home a shot to beat the keeper.
- Maggie Will pushed Centre's lead to 4-0 in the third quarter, finishing off a close range attempt for her fourth goal of the year.
- Wickenheiser closed the rout in the fourth period, recording her team-leading ninth goal of the season and her second of the evening.
