DANVILLE, Ky. – The 16th-ranked Centre women's soccer team overcame a first-half deficit to defeat Berry, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at Andrew P. Amend Field.
The Colonels improve to 9-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Athletic Association while sending the Vikings to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in-conference.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The visiting Vikings put the Colonels on their heels with a goal in the 23rd minute, as Maeve McDougal converted on a corner kick from Vanessa Belanger.
- Centre's
Jonelle Barron came up with one save in the first period, but the Colonels went into break trailing by a goal.

Elizabeth Nelson leveled the score early in the second half, finishing low past the Berry keeper off an assist from
Bri Tilley. It was Nelson's fifth goal of the season.
- In the 77th minute, with the score still tied at 1-1,
Megan Sidaway delivered a rocket header on a
Brooke Smithson corner to put Centre ahead. Sidaway's fifth goal of the year matched Nelson for most on the team and proved to be enough to defeat the Vikings.

- Centre picked up its offensive pace in the second half, recording 13 of its 17 shots in the final 45 minutes. The Colonels held a 17-7 advantage in shots taken during the match.
