BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Centre volleyball team hit the road once again on Saturday to take on a Birmingham-Southern squad that was receiving votes in the most recent AVCA poll. The Colonels played better as the match went on, but they dug too deep a hole in the beginning and fell in straight sets.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- BSC used a 15-3 run to break open what had been a close opening set as they won by a score of 25-14.
- In the second set, the Panthers jumped out to a 7-1 lead and never allowed the Colonels to catch back up, holding them at bay at every attempted rally and winning 25-17.
- Centre played its best ball in the third set, with rookies
Emily Gardner and
Isabel Thornton leading the charge in an 8-0 run that gave the Colonels their first extended lead of the match. They led by as many as five points at 19-14 before BSC rallied to take the match with a 25-22 win.
