Centre reaches a dozen wins in four-set victory over Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. – Centre volleyball bounced back from Saturday's loss to defeat Millsaps, 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21) Sunday afternoon inside The Hangar Dome.

The Colonels improve to 12-4 overall and 4-3 in the Southern Athletic Association, while the Majors fall to 7-7 overall and 2-5 in-conference.

HIGHLIGHTS
- There was little to separate the two sides in a back-and-forth opening set that featured 15 ties. The Colonels surged toward the end of the set with kills from Eleanor Davis and Brooke Palmer sandwiched around a June Padilla ace. Davis finished it off with a solo block to secure the set.
- The hosts began the second set on a high note, grabbing an 8-2 lead. Centre pulled off a 6-0 run late in the set to make it 24-22, but the Majors held on to even the match.
- Set three proved to be another see-saw affair, with neither team leading by more than three points. Leading 23-22, the Colonels closed out the set on back-to-back kills from Davis.
- Centre jumped out to a 9-5 lead in the fourth set, and soon led 14-7 following a Madi Barron service ace. Millsaps rallied back, pulling within two at 21-19, but Ellie Driver eventually ended the match with a kill on Emily Gardner's career-high 38th assist.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Gardner helped facilitate a balanced attack with her best collegiate outing, adding 13 digs to her 38 assists. Palmer led Centre with 11 kills, while Davis, Driver, Katie Hall and Isabel Thornton had nine apiece.
- Palmer finished with three aces and Padilla followed with two.
- Barron led the team with 18 digs. Lily Hendricks (13), Gardner (13), Palmer (12) and Padilla (12) had double digit digs, as well.
