Centre draws level with Sewanee on Senior Day

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's soccer played Sewanee to a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon at Andrew P. Amend Field.

The Colonels move to 7-6-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the Southern Athletic Association, while the visiting Tigers go to 7-7-2 and 2-4-1 in-conference.

Prior to the match, Centre celebrated the careers of seniors Dylan Barth, Nafiz Budeiri, Jean-Karlo Gonzalez, Joe Green, Haydon Korfhage, Michael Vogt and Nathan Wilcox.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Sewanee opened the scoring in just the fifth minute as Connor Cheynet converted on the first shot of the match.
- The Colonels countered with a flurry of shots and would eventually equalize in the 17th minute. Sota Ippongi served up a perfect ball from the left wing for Wilcox, who headed home his team-leading sixth goal of the season.
- The remainder of the first half was filled with action, including an apparent Sewanee goal that was wiped away by an offsides, as well as 13 total shots from the Colonels. But the score held at 1-1 after 45 minutes.
- Centre held Sewanee without a shot across the second period, but neither side found the back of the net to force extra time.
- Midway through the first overtime, Wilcox nearly ended the match with another header off a pass from Barth. Barth almost scored himself just moments later, as well. In the end, the score remained 1-1 after 110 minutes.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre out-shot Sewanee 27-9 overall with a slight 5-3 edge in shots on goal. The Tigers held a 4-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
- Haydon Korfhage recorded two saves for the Colonels.
