ATLANTA - The Centre volleyball team played the final road game of the 2021 season on Sunday afternoon as they fell to the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe in four sets.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Oglethorpe used a run of eight straight points midway through the opening set to break open a close contest, eventually pulling away to a 25-13 win.
- In the second set, the Colonels bounced back, turning an early three-point deficit into a four-point lead as
Ellie Driver capped off a 7-0 Centre run. The Colonels took their biggest lead at 24-17 on another kill by Driver and held on for a 25-21 win as
Shelby Wohlwender put home the final kill.
- The Petrels used three separate runs of five straight points to create the necessary distance against Centre in the third set and win by a 25-17 score.
- The fourth set played out in a similar fashion as the first, with Oglethorpe making a huge run - this time an 11-1 spurt - to pull away to a 25-13 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Josie Grace-Mudd led the way for Centre with ten kills, with Driver and
Emily Goddin each adding seven.

Emily Gardner finished with a team high 27 assists.

Madi Barron led all players with 23 digs, while
Lily Hendricks finished with 17.
- The Petrels held a 13-5 advantage over the Colonels in blocks.
NEXT UP
Centre volleyball will wrap up the regular season next week with the final home stand of the week, starting with a midweek match against Sewanee on Thursday. The Colonels defeated Sewanee in a five-set marathon in Tennessee earlier this season.
