Centre volleyball drops final road game at Oglethorpe

ATLANTA - The Centre volleyball team played the final road game of the 2021 season on Sunday afternoon as they fell to the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe in four sets.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- Oglethorpe used a run of eight straight points midway through the opening set to break open a close contest, eventually pulling away to a 25-13 win.
- In the second set, the Colonels bounced back, turning an early three-point deficit into a four-point lead as Ellie Driver capped off a 7-0 Centre run. The Colonels took their biggest lead at 24-17 on another kill by Driver and held on for a 25-21 win as Shelby Wohlwender put home the final kill.
- The Petrels used three separate runs of five straight points to create the necessary distance against Centre in the third set and win by a 25-17 score.
- The fourth set played out in a similar fashion as the first, with Oglethorpe making a huge run - this time an 11-1 spurt - to pull away to a 25-13 win.

- Josie Grace-Mudd led the way for Centre with ten kills, with Driver and Emily Goddin each adding seven.
- Emily Gardner finished with a team high 27 assists.

- The Petrels held a 13-5 advantage over the Colonels in blocks.
