DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's soccer's quest for a tenth consecutive Southern Athletic Association tournament title began with a 2-0 quarterfinal victory over the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels on Saturday at Amend Field.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels dominated possession against the Petrels from the start as they peppered the Oglethorpe net with shots in the opening minutes.
- Eventually, Centre broke through for the first time at the halfway point of the first half as leading scorer
Megan Sidaway broke the scoreless tie and gave the Colonels a 1-0 lead that would stay into the halftime break. Centre outshot Oglethorpe 18-0 in the opening frame.
- The second half played out in a similar fashion as the Colonels continued to control the ball for the duration.

- The Centre defense completely controlled the ball as the Colonels held the Petrels without a single shot attempt for the entire game.
- Centre held edges of 42-0 in shots, 15-0 in shots on goal and 15-0 in corners.
- Sidaway's first half brace was her eighth goal of the season for a team high.
- The Colonels have record shutouts in six consecutive matches and eight of the last nine.
- With today's win, Centre women's soccer has now won 65 straight matches against SAA opponents and extends its unbeaten streak in conference play to 72.
