DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre volleyball team picked up win no. 14 and their fifth conference victory of the season as they split their season series with the Hendrix Warriors in a wild four-set victory. The win was the first by the Colonels against Hendrix since the 2017 season.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The first set was tightly contested for the duration. Centre used a pair of 5-0 runs to stay in the lead, but the Warriors hung tough and tied the score at 23-23. From there,
Brooke Palmer gave the Colonels the lead with a kill and Centre scored the next point to take a 25-23 win.
- In the second set, Hendrix broke a 16-16 tie with a 9-2 rally at the end to take a 25-18 victory.
- Centre grabbed the advantage midway through the third set with a 6-0 run to take a 15-9 lead, with Palmer and
Isabel Thornton accounting for five kills in the rally. Hendrix began to chip away at the lead and eventually tied the score at 23-23. Just like in the first set, Centre won the test of wills as Thornton and
Katie Hall put away consecutive kills to give the Colonels another 25-23 win and a 2-1 match lead.
- The fourth set was the closest one of the day as neither team led by more than three at any point. Hendrix fought off two match points with a 3-0 run that forced a set point of their own at 25-24, but
Ellie Driver tied the score with a kill, and then did it again to make it 26-26. Now tied at 27-27,
Emily Goddin put Centre on top with a kill and then sealed the deal with an ace to cap off the dramatic victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Palmer tied for the game high with 14 kills, while Hall and Thornton each had nine and Driver finished with eight.

Emily Gardner finished with a game high 38 assists and also led all players with four aces. The Colonels finished with 11 aces on the day compared to six for the Warriors.

Madi Barron led Centre with 18 digs, while
June Padilla added 12 and
Lily Hendricks finished with ten.

Sunday's scheduled game against Rhodes was postponed to Oct. 31, so the next game for Centre volleyball will be on Oct. 16 against Millsaps. The Colonels defeated the Majors in four sets on the road on Oct. 3.
