DANVILLE, Ky. – Senior
Abigail Wehby hit a baseline pull-up jumper in the closing seconds of Saturday's game, giving Centre a 55-53 victory against Berry inside Alumni Gymnasium.
In a game that featured 12 ties and five lead changes, Wehby's final dagger proved to be the difference in helping the Colonels improve to 3-4, while dropping the visiting Vikings to 2-5.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre rushed out to a 12-7 lead in the first quarter, but Berry countered with a quick 5-0 spurt to level the score.

Madison Marcum drained a corner 3-poiner in the closing seconds of the first period to break the tie, and she opened the second with another long ball to push the lead to 18-12.
- More back-and-forth from the two sides took place in the second, but another late 3-pointer – this one from
Kylee Murray – helped the Colonels take a 31-27 halftime lead.
- The Vikings came out of the half on a 10-5 stretch to take their first lead since the opening basket of the game, but a quick answer from the Colonels – namely a 3-pointer from Marcum – helped swing momentum back to the home team.
- Neither side could create separation in a closely contested fourth period. Late free throws from
Ellen Hicks gave Centre a slight 53-51 advantage with 90 seconds to play, but Berry's Jana Morning responded with a jumper to level the score.
- After two consecutive empty possessions, Centre called a timeout with eight seconds remaining, drawing up the eventual game-winner from Wehby.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hicks led the team with 12 points, adding four rebounds, an assist and a steal. Marcum totaled nine points on her trio of threes, also chipping in three boards.

Presley Chirico hauled in a game-high seven rebounds, while Wehby and
Natalie Duggins had six each. Centre out-rebounded Berry 43-32 as a team.
- Defensively, Centre held Berry to 36% (22-61) overall and 21% (3-14) from long range.
