NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Centre football suffered a 42-35 defeat Saturday to Birmingham-Southern, playing in a neutral site contest at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville.
The Colonels fall to 1-1 overall while the Panthers improve to 2-1.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The teams traded punts early before
Patric Edwards was able to put Centre on the board, converting a 43-yard touchdown catch from
Trentin Dupper.

Armon Wells picked off BSC's Trevor Oakes on the next drive, and it led to a one-yard touchdown plunge from Dupper.
- Birmingham-Southern scored on a Robert Shufford TD run, but Centre answered quickly on a 36-yard connection between Dupper and
Jordan Gunter.

Corey Russell continued Centre's offensive momentum, capping a three-play, 70-yard drive with a score. A 57-yard rush from Edwards highlighted the possession.
- The Panthers scored in the final minute of the half to make it 28-21 at the break, and played stout defense in the third quarter to eventually take a 35-28 lead.
- Still trailing by the same score in the fourth,
Nick German came up with a clutch interception that led to a touchdown from Dupper to
Greer Stone.
- On the ensuing drive, the Panthers went ahead on a scamper from Oakes, and they held on to secure the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Dupper was 14 of 25 for three touchdowns and no picks, adding 38 yards and a score on the ground.

Christian Billiter had three catches for 58 yards, while Gunter, Edwards and Stone had two apiece.

Ty Houck paced the Colonels with eight tackles, including 1.5 TFL and a sack, followed by
Quinton Moss' five stops.
Clayton Bell and
Carter Smith each had two TFL, and Bell had 1.5 sacks.
Oliver Hunter had three QB hurries and a half sack.

Nick Whitlow was a perfect 5-for-5 on PATs.
- Centre had 391 total yards compared to BSC's 355.
