DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre softball dropped a pair of games against Franklin Saturday, after poor field conditions forced a move to the turf surface at Boyle County High School.
The Grizzlies (2-0) defeated the Colonels (0-5) by scores of 5-1 and 14-0.
GAME ONE: Franklin 5, Centre 1
- Rookie
Lucy Baseheart fanned the first two batters of the game, but the Grizzlies would plate three in the second inning all on two outs to open up a lead.
- Timely hits from Franklin in the fourth and fifth allowed the visitors to make it 5-0.
-
Rachel Skinner put Centre on the board in the bottom of the frame, launching a homerun over the fence in right-center field. It marked her first career homer.
- Centre was shutout the final two frames, however, as Franklin secured a win.
GAME TWO: Franklin 14, Centre 0 (5 innings)
- The Grizzlies opened game two much like they did in game one – delivering three runs on two outs.
- They added nine more across the second and third innings, and eventually claimed a 14-0 victory in five.
-
Brylin Isaacs had two of Centre's three base hits in the loss.
