Colonels thump Lions in home opener, 20-5

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's lacrosse scored early and often Saturday morning against Piedmont, winning by a sizeable 20-5 margin in the home opener at South Campus Field.

Centre improves to 2-1 overall and drops Piedmont to 0-2.

Mary Katherine Hardy led all players with seven points on five goals and a pair of assists, and Lily Gahm followed with six on four scores and two helpers. Bella Tacogue finished with a hat trick, the first of which was her 100th career goal.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Piedmont scored the opening goal, but it was a short-lived advantage as Centre followed with 13 unanswered goals before halftime.
- Hardy opened the parade barely four minutes into the game – one four first-half goals for the senior – and five other Colonels hit the back of the net in the opening period.
- Ella Treinen and Grace Aug each recorded their first career goals during the half, and Tacogue reached the century mark in the frame, as well.
- It was much of the same throughout the second half. Madeleine Longmeyer and Hannah Rodell each netted their first tallies of the season.
