Women's lacrosse cruises past Hendrix for third straight win

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's lacrosse improved to 3-1 on the year, opening their Southern Athletic Association slate with a comfortable 19-5 win over Hendrix. The win was the third straight for the Colonels after a loss in the season opener.

Prior to the game, Centre celebrated the careers of seniors Katy Haering, Mary Katherine Hardy, Clare Heaney, Ellie Jury, Hannah Rodell and Bella Tacogue.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels got off to a slow start, trading goals with the Warriors through the first ten minutes of the game, with Madeleine Longmeyer and Lily Gahm providing the scoring tallies.
- Eleven minutes into the contest, a goal by Tacogue kicked off a run of six straight for Centre in a ten-minute span. Tacogue and Hardy each scored twice during the rally.
- McKenna Hulette scored a pair of goals in the final three minutes to give the Colonels an 11-4 lead at the end of the first half.
- Centre quickly scored the first six goals of the second half, including two by Hardy. Goals by Tacogue and Longmeyer capped off the scoring for the day in the 19-5 victory.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels enjoyed a balanced scoring effort for the day as Gahm, Hardy and Tacogue all posted game highs with four goals, followed by Hulette with three.
- Centre assisted on eight goals against the Warriors, with Gahm leading the way with three.
- Centre enjoyed a 33-7 advantage over Hendrix in shots on goal. They also had a 25-8 edge in ground balls, led by Hardy and Hulette with five each.
- Gracey Falk played in net in the second half and recorded two saves.

The Centre women's lacrosse team will return to action on Mar. 13 for a weekend doubleheader at Berry.
