Colonels open 2021 with scrimmage at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's soccer returned to action after 451 days Monday evening, finally kicking off the modified spring campaign with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory during a scrimmage at Spalding.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
- Although the Colonels had the first couple of shots of the match, the home side opened the scoring with a conversion from Chadrack Mulondani in the 22nd minute.
- Centre totaled five shots across the first 45 minutes, but went into the halftime break still trailing by a 1-0 margin.
- Fortune favored the Colonels roughly 20 minutes into the second half, when the Golden Eagles suffered an own goal that leveled the score.
- Just moments later, freshman Nick Petrie found classmate Sota Ippongi for the match-winning goal, marking the first collegiate points for both rookies.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre out-shot Spalding 11 to 3 and held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
- Haydon Korfhage started and played all 90 minutes in goal for the Colonels.
- Several individuals saw their first action in a Centre uniform, including Ippogi, Petrie, Ethan Redmond, Ryan Roussel, Clayton Stanbery and Matthew Seran.
