MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Centre women's lacrosse team won its fourth consecutive game, improving to 4-1 on the year and 2-0 in the Southern Athletic Association with a 19-3 rout of the Berry Vikings.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Both teams were slow out of the gates, with eight minutes passing before the first goal of the contest, scored by the Vikings.
- From there, the floodgates opened for the Colonels. Reigning SAA Player of the Week
Mary Katherine Hardy scored Centre's first two goals, kicking off a run of 11 straight in the half for the Colonels and 15 straight in the game.
Sloan Reding tallied four goals in the first half, while Hardy,
McKenna Hulette and
Bella Tacogue tallied two each.
- In the second half, Centre kept on the offensive as Tacogue and
Madeleine Longmeyer provided three goals each. The Colonels built their biggest lead at 15-1 with 22:05 left on a goal by Longmeyer.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- In what has become a pattern this season, Centre enjoyed a balanced scoring effort against the Vikings. Tacogue led the way with five goals, followed by Reding with four and three each for Hardy and Hulette.
- Centre also shared the ball well against Berry, assisting on 13 of 19 goals. Hardy finished with a game high five assists, with
Lily Gahm adding four.
- The Colonels enjoyed a 43-9 edge in shots and a 23-16 advantage in ground balls. Reding paced the Colonels with five ground balls.
- Centre finished with 14 forced turnovers on the day, with seniors
Katy Haering and
Clare Heaney leading the way with three each.
