Majors sweep Colonels in Sunday doubleheader

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre softball dropped a pair of contests to visiting Millsaps Sunday, falling by scores of 8-1 and 8-0.

Centre drops to 1-11 overall and 1-6 in Southern Athletic Association play, while the Majors leave town 8-5 overall and 6-2 in-conference.

GAME ONE: Millsaps 8, Centre 1
- Millsaps brought its bats out in the opener, plating four runs on seven hits across the first three innings to take an early advantage.
- Riley McCue put Centre on the board in the fourth, sending a triple to right field to bring home Kaylee Gregory.
- That proved to be the only run for the Colonels, however, as they stranded three runners in the final three frames.
- The Majors finished the game with 15 hits, scoring a pair of runs in the fifth and seventh innings to secure the win.

GAME TWO: Millsaps 8, Centre 0 (5 inn.)
- It was much of the same in the second game, as Millsaps racked up 11 hits and eight runs while scoring a run in every inning. Emily Cook delivered a two-out RBI double to open the scoring in the first.
- Molli Perry and Lindsey Osbon each drove in runs for the Majors in the second inning, chasing Centre starter Andrea Searcy.
- Gregory, Hailey Watson and Alana Fullen all singled in the bottom of the second, but the Colonels would strand all three.
- Millsaps eventually scored four more and held Centre without a run to end the game in five.
